Shinobi isn't easy at all. Maybe easy if you've played the heck out of it.

Re: Bad game names

It's always seemed straightforward to me: "Gaia" like the Greek goddess of the Earth, plus "res" pronounced either like the first part of "rest" or (more naturally) the first syllable of "resident". Maybe they were trying for a "Gaia" + "Ares&q...

I own the original cart and case. That's sufficient proof for me that it exists. :)

I've always pronounced the name like "guy-res" or "guy-ris."

Re: Neo Geo (Non Fighters)

Shock Troopers is a cool MERCS clone. Last Resort is a fun horizontal shmup.

Neo Geo did have the best graphics, but graphics aren't everything. I'll take the best SNES games such as Super Metroid, Super Punch-Out, Secret of Mana and DKC over the Neo Geo library any day.

Re: Bad game names

Little Samson (NES) - The name probably hurt sales because people were expecting a lousy religious game. Xexyz (NES) Sagaia (Genesis) - They could have just gone with Darius rather than changing the title to this. Name This Game (Atari 2600) Spanky's Quest (SNES) - The main character is "Spanky...

The intro to Out Of This World (SNES) really impressed me back in the day.

Re: Sony Playstation Classic, $99 US, 12/3

The SNES Classic runs PlayStation games better than the PlayStation Classic. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/12/video_snes_classic_runs_psone_games_better_than_the_playstation_classic "The summary is, Sony designed a system that can "barely" play its own games. In contrast, the...

Re: Which games have the best screenshots?

Genesis Sword of Sodan is another "bait and switch" game where the graphics on the back of the box look amazing, but not so impressive in action.

Re: Which games have the best screenshots?

Back in the day before the internet, that was often how many gamers made their purchasing decisions. Which ones tempted you? Which ones still tempt you? NES Ninja Gaiden. I remember seeing the back of the box at the video rental store. It has images of cut scenes and the boss fight with the two dog...

Re: Red Dead Redemption II install process from hell

One big advantage of console gaming was that it was "pick up and play" compared to PC gaming. Much less hassle. Now that is no longer true. A console is just a less expensive PC that you hook up to your TV. All of that installing, updates and DRM crap is there. No thanks.
