I bought one, and I'm enjoying it. There are some UI things that are taking some time to get used to, but they are releasing updates all the time. I like that it's upgradable. I just bought an internal drive for it, so I'll probably put another OS on it and dual boot.

Allpaul,
Thanks for chiming in - I'd really like to hear you're analysis after you'd spent some time with this!
Sounds like you're a real tech-savvy guy with the upgrades.
Any cool games yet?

I just followed a video Atari posted on Youtube, and it was fairly easy.. I put a 1TB M.2 drive, and 32gb of ram in today. The next step is partitioning the drive. I'll use half for Windows 10, and the other half as storage for AtariOS.

I have Atari Vaults 1 (with comes per-installed for free), and I paid $4.99 for Vol 2. Vol 2 is interesting, because it has some Atari 5200 games. Antstream Arcade comes pre-installed as well. I'm mostly playing the arcade version of Mat Mania Challenge. I have fond memories of the arcade game, and the 7800 version really sucks, so it's nice to have the option. It also has odd 7800 games available. So far, Antstream is available for free.

I downloaded an app called Airconsole, and my wife and I played a trivia game on it. It seems like it would be fun at parties.

One game that I'll definitely buy is Spirit of the Samurai, when it comes out:

I love this site and read it all the time, so I'll definitely keep you posted!

https://www.antstream.com/ It works on linux, mac, windows, Android and Kindle fire which is of course linux based.

There's definitely not a lot (or any) exclusives on the system. I don't do any gaming on my Mac, so the VCS is the first console I bought in years. It's definitely the most modern that I own (unless you count my Apple TV), so these are my first experiences with the Vaults and Antstream.

I like the idea of one and would if they were being sold in this country think about getting one. Thrustlander just now is exclusive. Maybe not much of an exclusive but one nonetheless. It being Gravatar in all but name. Also I am not sure why they are not emulating Tempest 2000. Easily the best game Atari have released in the last 30 years. Tempest 4k looks like it is going to be a great game but if the pc version is anything to go by, the control is not there.

Like the Critic says. It is great that you have one and I look forward to your thoughts about it.

I haven’t checked in in a while. Atari has been releasing a new 7800 title every Friday. A few of these games weren’t available at my local stores back in the day, so this is the first opportunity I’ve had to play them outside of emulation on a computer.

My wife is enjoying Darkside Detective. It’s a pixelated throwback game where you solve mysteries. The Recharged series games have been fun. I’m liking Centipede and Black Widow.

We had some relatives over for a party Thanksgiving night. I used the Windows install to play some music while we played Cards Against Humanity. I booted into Atari OS later to use the YouTube app to go around the room having everyone pick a music video to watch. Everything worked well.

They added a friends tab, but I haven’t done much with it.. There are also apps for XCloud, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna. Seems like it’s becoming a pretty interesting open platform where you can natively play games from multiple services.

If anyone cares, Microcenter has these on sale for $250:

Just buying the controllers alone is probably over $100, so this is a pretty good deal.
