I've been wanting to join an online league. Unfortunately the leagues that use the FPSBP '98 engine are full. The vast majority of leagues use Out of the Park Baseball series, And it's easy to join one. The problem is, it's a classic case of information overload. There's all sorts of things to have to learn and deal with that it just made it tough for me to want to put up with it. And the gameplay is still ridiculously bad. The new one OOPT '25 still looks absolutely terrible with animation that's a joke. I'd played OOTP '18 before and couldn't deal with all that stats. That's the thing that's so great about older games from the '90's, that it's still simple. And as much as I've been upset that those games got squeezed out of the market, it was probably not the worst thing. The FPS Football Pro '98, which ended up being the last edition, was a little too complicated for my taste. And the thing with the OOTP series is that it's got no competition anymore. I think Baseball Mogul was it. And it's not a great thing when there's no competition. For now and probably forever, it's a no to the OOTP series.

That'd be awesome if they had a digitized voice of Earl Weaver arguing with the ump: "You're here just to %*&# us!".

I’ve just gotten “hit hard” (pun intended) by baseball lately. I mean, I’m actually thinking about getting into the OOTP series and hopefully find a way to play Earl Weaver. Maybe it’s the American in me, but I’ve changed. I used to say that soccer was the best sport but for video and computer games, Baseball just destroys soccer. I’m all in with baseball video and computer games from here on out. Besides Neo Geo and certain Super Mario games that’s the way it’s going to be. Internet league here I come. I’m sure I’ll be very welcome in an OOTP league with my poor IQ and impatience. Why it took so long to finally realize Baseball is everything is my fault.

I remember playing this, or at least a version of this, in 1985/86 in high school. I’ve always been a bit of a baseball historian, and I was blown away by the old-timey pitching and batting lineups, choosing players from the early 1900’s and their stats for a particular year. Cool game.

This summer me and the fam are going to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends. Of course I’m going to Pinball PA in Hopewell, PA, with my kids (https://www.pinballpa.com/) with something like 250 classic arcade games from the 60’s to present, (main focus is 70’s and 80’s) plus 150 pinball machines, including the greatest pinball game ever made, 8 ball Deluxe (https://www.arcade-museum.com/Pinball/e ... 1981--2134).

Planning on going to a Pirate game at PNC Park with the fam and a bunch of friends. Even though the Bucs always stink, PNC Park is a beautiful place just to sit and kick back. Plus great food. My wife has hesitantly agreed to go, even though she’s French and doesn’t know the first thing about baseball. But she’s learned a ton about American football just from me watching it over the years, LOL.
