This is a pretty cool little system that comes with 64 games, which is awesome. The controllers got a lot of extra buttons that gets around the keyboard requirement.
However one thing I had really high hopes for was the ability to load your own ROMs. My friend Eric and I created Batman and Spider-Man game specials for this site, and I thought it would be great if I could include the old C64 games. I figured using the Mini would be the easiest way.
So I downloaded a few ROMs from some site but when I went to load Batman, the screen was just full of flashing graphics, along with messages, apparently from the guy who "cracked" the game. These messages were kind of unhinged, so I just turned it off. I tried Spider-Man and it was the same kind of thing. I could even figure out how to get the game started.
Is this typical when you're dealing with C64 ROMs? Is there a site with "clean" ROMs? I'm kinda bummed out.

I downloaded Pitfall for the Atari Mini but I have not tried it yet.
or Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_c64
for Atari, Atarimania https://www.atarimania.com/
I would try IA first Critic. Or get the C64 critic to save a few things to usb for you.

Re: Commodore 64 Mini ROMs
Just had Sudz aka the C64 Critic over for some gaming, and with gave this little machine a workout. I only have one joystick, but all the two player games seem to be turns only anyway.
So we played a lot of fun games including Jumpman, Uridium, Who Dares Wins II, Paradroid, and Super Cycle. The graphics look so crystal clear in HD, and the sound is amazing as well. As for the control, there is a slight lag, but nothing too objectionable.
In the case of certain games like Uridium and Super Cycle, the controls felt very touchy, and we wondered if the original games were like that.
Each game has four slots to save to, which is great for saving high scores.
The controller is a little clunky for fast-action games like Who Dares Wins II, but the way they incorporated the keyboard into the interface is pretty neat.
I'll have to write up a full review.

This is the authentic C=64 experience.
