Best/Worst Star Fox 64 levels?

Postby Blueguy1 » May 16th, 2013, 12:06 am

We've all played Star Fox 64, we all love it, it's one of the most treasured video games of all time, yadiyada.

So what's your favorite/least favorite level from the game?

Best-Macbeth: This level is my favorite because you can get so many points from attacking the train in the level, as well as everything it fires at you. And if you hit all 8 switches (and the switcher), the train will crash into the bomb depot, giving you a huge 50 point kill (!!!!!!!!), and very satisfying explosions. Oh yeah, and you get to go to Area 6! Macbeth for the win!!!

Worst-Aquas: Aquas isn't too challenging, but it's slow, tedious, and not exactly a household level in a household N64 classic. It is a great looking level though, but I honestly get irritated the pillars, exploding starfish, and fighting the giant clam at the end of the stage. It's worth beating to get to Zoness, and Sector Z, but it's still the low point in the game.

I personally liked the lava planet stage (forgot the name offhand). I remember the first time I played it being mesmorized by the waves of lava and shooting lava birds then being scared half to death by the lava boss at the end. Another one I remember enjoying was the Independence Day ripoff stage. Great memories.

The lava stage is Solar, and the Independence Day inspired stage is Katina (Bill Grey, the bulldog assisting you) is based off William Grey from the same movie).

My favorite is actually Corneria.  Sure it's the first level, but it did such a good job showcasing the game and when I tend to think of Star Fox 64 its the first thing that pops into my head.

My least favorite is the Meteo stage.  It was just a boring asteroid field that I usually hated playing through.  I always remember wanted that stage to be over so I could get to something more exciting.

I love the level with the warp holes, and the ship graveyard.

Best:

Area 6 - A total clusterf*ck:  massive fleets of aircraft carriers, gun placements, those cool disc things that flip over, the spiraling light thingies shot by the buzzing mechanical insects, the taunts from Andross and the boss fight.

Worst:

Sector Z or Katina - Not a big fan of the all-range mode stages where you just fly around waiting for what basically amounts to a quicktime event.
