But only games for the systems you or your family/friends/school owned back then -

What would they be?

1. Final Fantasy (NES)
Back the I tjink I would've really enjoyed it. I was just starting to enjoy more RPGs. I tried playing it on the PS1 a couple of years ago & just didn't have the patience for it.

2. Military Madness (TG-16)
I love tactics games & missed out on this one.

3. Kid Casino (NES)
Another one Iissed out on that I don't have much patience for now.

4. G I Joe (NES)
Still looking for it, but at the right price.

5. Stadium Events (NES)
$$$$$$$

Ooh, good question...

From the time I was about 5 or 6 years old up until my early 20's, we had exactly 5 systems (Atari 2600, NES, TG-16, Genesis, and Playstation), so I will pick one from each.

Atari 2600 - Dragonfire
Considering I'm a huge fan of another Imagic game, Demon Attack, I guess it shouldn't be a surpise that I like Dragonfire so much.  Runner-up: Jr. Pac-Man

NES - Castlevania III
I was fortunate to own a lot of NES classics back in the day, but this is probably the best game I missed out on.  Runner-up: Startropics

TG-16 - Devil's Crush
We had Alien Crush, which I liked, but Devil's Crush blows it away.  Runner-up: Bonk III

Genesis - NHL '94
We had NHL '93, '95, and '96, but somehow missed out on the best of the bunch.  Runner-up:  Castlevania Bloodlines

Playstation - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Considering how much I liked Coolboarders, I'm not sure why I was never interested in skateboarding games.  It's a shame that it took me so long to discover this game.  Runner-up: Doom

You do realize that in order to send it back in time to yourself, you actually have to buy it first, right? (Well, that and invent a time machine...)

1. Atari 2600: G.I. Joe Cobra Strike - never played this one as a kid but it's one of my favorites now. plus up to 3 players can play at once so it would've been perfect

2. NES: Solomon's Key - although I'd probably be terrible at it

3. Sega Genesis: D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun - love this game, never heard of it when I was younger

4. PSX: Alien Resurrection - One of the most impressive games ever on the playstation. A great follow-up to Alien Trilogy.

I had the ZX Spectrum and Atari ST when I was a lad, and the MegaDrive as a teenager. So here's the games I would send back and what I would tell myself.

Jetpac (ZX Spectrum) - It's great and cheap don't waste your time with another subpar beat 'em up!

Wings of Death (Atari ST) - Great shoot 'em up and show the ST can compete with the Amiga and consoles.

Phantasy Star 4 (MegaDrive) - Go on try an RPG you will enjoy it !

Mega-Turrican (MegaDrive) - Even better than the ST Turrican games (and they're great)

Dynablasters (Atari ST) - European version of Bomberman you and your friends would have a great time with this multi-player gem.

PS. Don't waste £25 of your birthday money on Atari ST Final Fight it's awful, also don't sell your copy of Snatcher it will cost you a fortune to buy it back when your 36!

Great Topic!!!

Let's see.....this is hard.  I think I'll stick with Genesis and SNES games.

Demon's Crest (SNES) - I've always been a fan of monsters.  I had Gargoyle's Quest as a kid and I never knew about this SNES game.  I would have loved it.

M.U.S.H.A. (Genesis) - An amazing shooter with awesome music.  This would have kept me entertained for days on end.  Plus I didn't have many shumps as a kid.  That was a genre I always rented.  This game would have been a keeper.

Earthbound (SNES) - I completely missed the boat on this amazing title.  I'd go back and be like...BUY THIS YOU FOOL.

Crusader of Centy (Genesis) - "Hey 12 year old me.  You like Zelda?  Play this!"

Super Mario RPG (SNES) - As a big fan of the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi games...this would have been a favorite growing up.  Sad I missed out on it.

The Legend of Zelda (NES) - I didn't play this game even once until I was in my twenties. I never remember even seeing it at the video store we rented NES games way back when. I wish I grew up with the first Zelda game like everybody else did; I'd probably be better at it like I am with A Link to the Past. As it is I'm pretty terrible at it and don't know where everything is automatically.

G.I. Joe (NES) - the huge G.I. Joe fan I was as a kid back in the '80s would've loved this superb game.

Guerilla War (NES) - my favorite to-down run n' game. I know my 10 year-old-self would go nuts for it too.

TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES) - I was crazy about the 1989 Konami TMNT arcade game back in the day, just pumped so many quarters/tokens into it. So I know my younger self would've adored Turtles in Time. I might've missed out on it because by the time it hit the SNES in 1992, I was out of my Ninja Turtles phase.

Vice: Project Doom (NES) - A damn fine game I discovered some years ago. I'm sure I would've loved it had I played it as a kid.
