Your Favourite Lemmings (and Lemmings like) Games?

I just wanted to see if anyone on here enjoys Lemmings? and if so what is in your opinion the best Lemmings game and best version? (it has been released on virtually every platform ever).

As a second question, are there any Lemmings like games you have particularly enjoyed? e.g. a modern example would be something like Flockers or Mousecraft.

----------------------------------------

I used to love playing Lemmings back in the 90s and still think that Lemmings offer a kind of puzzle gameplay that is rarely matched, so much more thoughtful and intelligent than the never ending stream of match 3 we seem to be subjected to these days. I think Lemmings is the cream of puzzle games.

I still return to Lemmings and the various remakes once in a while when nostalgia calls, like the very good PS2/PSP update which basically brought the original game up to date visually and added a few new levels and an editor. Though it doesn't feel as good, I have been even getting into the PS3 version a bit lately, and am quite enjoying Lemmings Touch on Vita which is better than I expected, but the touch mechanics feel a bit gimmicky. In terms of Lemmings like games I have been enjoying Mousecraft a lot and think it is a great modern imaging of the puzzle classic. Also looking forward to playing Flockers too which is said to be another decent lemmings style game.

That said my fondest memories are of the original classic, the first Lemmings, which I first experienced on the Megadrive/Genesis. I later played it on Amiga too (and Oh No) and was able to do better with the more accurate mouse control, but I still have fondest memories of my first experience of it on the Megadrive and, I believe, it was the biggest version too with a massive 200 (180 SP, 20MP) levels and two extra difficulties/modes (I believe the other 16 bit versions were 120+20MP).

I enjoyed the sequel quite a lot too, but felt the excess of different abilities took away some of the charm and elegant simplicity a good puzzler needs. I enjoyed 3D lemmings at the time but would probably hate it now (very early, blocky 3D). Lemmings Revolution was decent too. Regrettably I have never been able to get hold of the little known third game Lemmings Chronicles/New World of Lemmings, which I hear various things about. The most surprising is that only a quarter of the overall game levels were actually released as they wanted to do level packs for each of the 12 tribes from Lemmings 2 as add on disks but it never came to be.

I do enjoy this series, I first discovered it when one of my relatives bought me Lemmings Paintball for Christmas.

I love the original Lemmings and Oh No More Lemmings, I originally had these on my ST the mouse control did help. But I'm very, very impressed with the Master System version it's just like its 16-bit brothers.

Like the OP I thought Lemmings 2 lost some of the easy to play design. I had Lemmings 3D for Saturn and it was horrible ! I subsequently sold it. I've not touched another revision since.

Loved the original, played it on my Amiga 2000HD all the time.  One feature I really liked on the Amiga was you could plug in a second mouse for head-to-head play.  Not sure if that was possible on other systems - my roommate had the PC version and I don't recall it having that feature.  The audio was disappointing on the PC as well, no little voices "oh no!" as PC audio was rather primitive back then.

I really liked Dino Dudes on the Jaguar. It was a lemmings rip off but not a bad one. The critic bashed it but hey no one is perfect.

Also Chu Chu rocket had a little lemmings vibe to it and that game was awesome.

Not exactly the same as Lemmings, but I loved Lost Vikings for the Genesis ( with the 6 button controller that is, the 3 button controller drove me nuts). There was also a game for the Genesis called Humans that was kind of similar. I only rented it once do I don't remember it extraordinarily well.
