New BASIC Programming for the Atari 2600

Postby Mr SQL » August 14th, 2015, 4:54 pm

Virtual World BASIC let's you combine the fast action of Atari 2600 games with Nintendo style tile mapped graphics and large virtual worlds using the the BASIC Programming language.

You can load BASIC Programming from tape if you have the 6K RAM Expansion board for the Atari, or you can use a flashcart or an emulator.

Download the BASIC compiler, view videos of Atari games made with BASIC Programming and find a tutorial on how to create games and demos with BASIC Programming here:

I love this line, "Virtual World BASIC lets you make Atari games that take place in a virtual world ten times larger than the Television screen."

Thanks ActRaiser! Many vintage BASIC's have commands for plotting pixels on the screen with x,y coordinates, Virtual World BASIC allows the programmer to plot pixels on a much larger canvas and slide the screen around the canvas with x,y coordinates.

It's ideal for building tile mapped scrolling games like Thexder on the Atari :)
