Boot up some Ground Zero: Texas on your Sega CD.

While history has not been kind, Sega was tring to be innovative with both the media (optical disc that cohld more than 100x as much data as the ROM carts used on the Genesis) and the medium (audio tracks and FMV).

Inside is another 16 bit Motorola 68000, just like in the main Genesis, and both are used for CD games. The CD player is single speed, so welcome load times.

Any Sega CD memories or opinions.

As a retro gamer I appreciate the Sega CD more and more. What was once dismissed as a lazy cartridge port, I now prefer to play the CD version with a (usually) vastly improved kick ass soundtrack.

Oddly the gaming media always lambasted games ‘that could be done on the Genesis’ seem to miss the point. And games like Lords of Thunder and Keio Flying Squadron are a step (albeit) small above similar Genesis games.

I also enjoy the Sega CD games that utilise it’s scaling and rotation abilities. Batman Returns and SoulStar are mighty close to Sega’s best ‘super scaler’ games.

I just avoid the FMV stuff.
