Do your kids like Retro games?

Postby Voor » May 3rd, 2019, 5:50 pm

I’ve been thinking of picking up a Atari Flashback. I like those games, but only when playing with others. I’m wondering how my kids would receive a 2600. Games likeFrogs and Flies, Maze Craze, etc, etc, are a blast, but I don’t know if they would have them a chance.

It depends on the kids, really. During my last visit to our local arcade, a girl who couldn't have been older than 8 or 9 was eager to show off her newest favorite game to her younger sister - Dig Dug. And this is a two story arcade filled with games from every era. If she wanted enough horsepower to Micheal Bay high resolution polygons, she knew where to find it. It's not like the Transformers sit-down cabinet was ever empty.

But would she be that excited to play the 2600 version?

A few Youtube channels have introduced children to 2600 games, and it's easy to tell which light up and think this is the best kind of history lesson and which consider themselves hostages to insane people.

Your best bet is to just ask your kids what they think of the idea.
