2 games about Atari 2600 ports.
A while back I went to a retro bar with retro video games. 2 games I inserted quarters into we're not the same as I remember. The first was warlords and I played it with three other friends. Although the graphics are Superior, it wasn't nearly as fun is the 2600 port with three other friends. The 2600 paddle controllers are just so precise. I much prefer the home version. The other is Berzerk. It didn't give me nearly the memories I had a playing it in the arcade. I think the 2600 version is far superior to the arcade version despite the lack of voice synthesis. If you get a chance compare the arcade games to there Atari 2600 ports. I think you'll be surprised.

Very true! A lot of the Atari 2600 versions had a little more time to percolate, and turned out better than the arcade. Plus, some of the arcade games were in black and white. I'm pretty sure Breakout was B&W, so the 2600 version is obviously much better. Also, you got tons of variations on the 2600.
So might argue Space Invaders was better on the 2600, but that's a tough call.
And I won't even bring up Pac-Man.... oh wait.

2600 Pacman is better than Shark Attack tho. Pacman's maze may be boring, but you can't get stuck on the walls.

Ugh! Shark Attack is just terrible. It's one of the few 2600 games I've played that I felt like I was wrestling with the controls the whole time I was playing it. And losing...

I loooooove Berzerk on the 2600. One of my top three favorite games on the system, and one of my all-time favorites, as well. Never even seen the arcade version in real life, but I've played the 2600 version to death, and still pop it in on a regular basis to see if I can top some of my decades-old high scores.
I feel like if I ever did play the arcade version, whether it were the "superior" version or not, I'd still prefer the 2600 one, just because it's the one I'm most familiar with. I'll keep an eye out at the barcades I frequent to see if a Berzerk cabinet ever shows up. If it does, I'll reply back and give you my impressions.
