PS1 Suggestions
I want to play a good adventure game, and for some reason I want to play one with early 3D graphics. Since I have PS2, and thus PS1, what are some good adventure games for PS1 that you guys found fun?

There is Hellnight if you want something different, but it wasn't released in the U.S and has become relatively pricey.

Do you consider Tomb Raider as adventure?

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Never played the PlayStation version, but have played it on Dreamcast. It's not bad.

If you have both PS1 (or even PS2 and 3 for that matter) along with a Dreamcast only get the Dreamcast version, but if you do not have Dreamcast along with PS1/PS2 and PS3 get PS1 or PC if you prefer PC gaming.

Not many good pure adventure games come to mind on PS1, but a few games in similar genres that might scratch the itch are Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, or Final Fantasy VII. They’re each all time classics and still hold up today. Silent Hill, Parasite Eve, or a Resident Evil game might work too.

I would put Brave Fencer Musashi on the list as well. Not the greatest game in the world, but it is a Square adventure game.

I would second Retro STrife's recommendation of the original Resident Evil. If it's been a while since you've played it, give it a spin and remember what all the fuss was about way back in '96.
I, myself, played through it a few months back for the first time in over a decade, and had an absolute blast. As soon as I had beaten the game as Jill, I wanted to go right back again and do it with Chris. As an added bonus, my wife was hanging around most of the time I was playing through the game and got to hear some of the cringey dialogue for the very first time. Since then, she's been puttering around the house with her best Barry voice, dropping lines like, "Have you found any clues?" or, "Don't worry - I've. Got. This." Even, "Wow, what a mansion!" and, "You're an Amazon, Jill!" have worked their way into her lexicon.
One of those few things that I really do think has "something for everybody," especially if you were there when it first came out and have fond memories of playing through it back in the day.

Hey one I forgot about until now is a game called Fear Effect. It is unlike any game I have played before. It's action-packed, not too difficult although challenging and has some of the most unique graphics I have seen in a game. The critic gave it an A-. So apparently he thought much the same as I do. I would highly recommend this title. It had a sequel that was pretty good but not as good as the original. Check out the critics review for it under PS1.
