KI Game Boy is definitely one of the better Game Boy fighters. I would say the King of Fighters, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat II, and maybe Primal Rage are the only fighters of note on the system. Battle Arena Toshinden was decent, if not memorable, and I haven't played much of Samurai Showdown, World Heroes GB or the Fatal Fury game (which does exist and was supposed to be good, but haven't gone out of my way to check how it played).

Amongst the worst is MK3, MK1, MK4 (GBC) and Fist of the North Star GB. Also Pit Fighter, but there's not many "good" versions of that... Street Fighter II GB was decent given the limitations, and far more enjoyable than Street Fighter Alpha (GBC).

Mortal Kombat II on Game Boy is a very good version too, given the limitations of course.

I disagree with what you said about Street Fighter II, it's the other way around, the Game Boy version of SF2 is horrendous, the frame rate is atrocious, on the other hand Street Fighter Alpha on GBC is awesome, fast and great gameplay even with only two buttons.

Funnily enough, even though portable version of fighting games have came a long way from back then especially on the Switch case, we still get the every now and then Game Boy Era Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter II style ports with work like this.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRUfjqv4PsE

SNK Heroines is nowhere near as bad as Streetfighter 2 and Mortal Kombat on Gameboy.

Neither of those Gameboy games are using sprites, for one thing, which meant Streetfighter was teleporting around like a Tiger LCD handheld in background mode, and Mortal Kombat featured unresponsive controls in window mode. (Check bgb if you have any doubts what they're doing.) There's no modern equivalent, no matter how terrifying 30fps is to some people. Only WWE 2K18 on Switch even comes close.

Both Mortal Kombat II GB and Street Fighter II GB are still playable. Below is a list of REALLY bad GB fighters...

Mortal Kombat GB
Mortal Kombat III GB
Shaq Fu GB
Mortal Kombat 4 GBC

There are others, but I'll have to dig to recall them.

Anyways true, there is worse, but games like WWE2K18 is a total dumpster fire of a Switch port, especially after Witcher 3 Switch port a way more advance/demanding game shows they just did not care. And BTW it worth nothing that other modern Fighting games on Switch are 60FPS targets such as Dragon Ball Fighter Z using Unreal Engine 4 (same tech as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch FYI and requires a Intel Core i5-3470, 3.20 GHz on PC FYI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byF7bs9nxRU), My Hero One's Justice (also uses Unreal Engine 4 with an Intel Core i5 required due to the games crazy destruction physics with variable frame rate that peaks at 60 depending on what happening on screen:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpiYuDRUO7c), Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid (runs on Jim Sterling favorite engine to rage on Unity no less, LOL!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DitGEOiEDdY), and the most demanding of the bunch Mortal Kombat 11: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwdW2GkIiOI, yet SNK Heroines requires a potato I3 CPU and older GPUs but the Switch version runs like ASS, not WWE2k18 ASS, but for Fighting game standards rather sub par especially with the upcoming Switch port of Samurai Shodown 2019 being confirmed for 60FPS gameplay. https://videogamecritic.com/forums/view ... 97&t=18017
