Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening (original Game Boy version, the glitches make this one very fun)
Metroid II
Super Metroid
Mega Man V (Game Boy)
Civilization Revolution (DS)

I found more I don't get tired of:

Earthbound - easy to see why this has a cult following

Crypt Killer (PS1 or arcade) - My favorite arcade monster shooter with branching paths, cool bosses, and weapon powerups.

Definitely some arcade games: Galaga, Robotron, and Tempest come to mind as the big ones. I never get tired of Galaga.

Some home ports of arcade games too, like the NES ports of Marble Madness and Double Dragon. NES DD is one of the few games I could replay every year.

Pre-crash games also tend to score well in this regard, and some of my favorites use procedurally-generated levels so that every game literally is different. AD&D: Cloudy Mountain and Tower of Doom are two I've put lots of hours into.

Others: Dungeons of Daggorath for the Tandy CoCo. NES Tetris. Mortal Kombat II, either arcade or SNES versions. Romance of the Three Kingdoms on NES. And oddly enough, Drakkhen on SNES, because it's such a nostalgia trip and so atmospheric.

Advance Wars Days of Ruin (DS)

I’ve created about 8 maps & most of them are better than the game included maps. I’ve played those maps many times over.

Some of them are very difficult where, as the player, you have to wait out a few turns defending & then several more turns just to build up an adequate offense. They play out in a way that none of the game-included maps do.

PSP Lumines
DC Garou Mark of the Wolves
Switch Mario Kart
NES Bubble Bobble
SNES Space Mega Force

Of these I think I love Bubble Bobble the most. It’s such a great game. It’s beautiful, simple and accessible - a timeless mini masterpiece.

The original Sonic trilogy on the Genesis.

Also, Galaga 90 for the Turbografx.

My last one to add that I somehow keep forgetting: Super Castlevania IV. I just love the explore the castle and outside of it, the bestiary of monsters, the whip in 8 directions and the layout of the levels.

I’m interested in how much time people are putting in. I almost feel embarrassed to say I’ve been playing Tennis on Gameboy almost exclusively for a long time. Over 6 months I think. The game is so addictive and it’s only me, my opponent, and of course Mario as the referee. He’s always making bad calls which is actually kind of funny. But I wonder what games people can play for months without getting bored.
