Amiga 500 Mini Announced! (Early 2022)

Postby TheEagleXIII » August 10th, 2021, 5:38 pm

Officially announced today! (As the A500 Mini)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKUgEOpr4Qs

Brief list of features here:
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021 ... on-the-way

- 25 games packed in (12 announced so far)
- Authentic Mouse
- 8-button Gamepad
- USB keyboard compatible
- From makers of C64 Mini
- Early 2022 release
- $139.99/£119.99

I've also found one source saying you can upload more games via USB - the video mentions you could do this with the C64 mini but doesn't officially say you can with the A500.

I had an Atari ST growing up, so I'm pretty stoked about this - a lot of games were released on both platforms and I expect there's no chance, or demand, for ever seeing an ST Mini. Although the audio and graphics won't quite hit my own nostalgia 100%, this is potentially gonna be the best way to relive these games. Especially as I haven't been able to successfully emulate either the ST or Amiga on Mac or my hacked Mega Drive or PS1 minis.

I am definitely interested. And a very reasonable price. I am looking forward to it. Thanks for posting.

Definitely interested too. I've long wanted an Amiga CD32.. it's probably the retro system missing from my collection that I'm most interested in.. but I don't have the same level of interest (and space) these days for tracking down expensive systems and games. In the meantime, some Amiga minis sound like a good substitute. Then again, I got a C64 mini two years ago and haven't even taken it out of the box...

I'm buying it as soon as I can order one from the US.

This would for sure scratch my Amiga itch as I can't bring myself to open the new in box CD32 I own. Maybe if demand is strong enough, they will do a full size version with a functional keyboard like they did with the C64 mini/maxi.

I've always liked the Amiga ports of EA sports games (like Madden, FIFA, etc...) Very well represented on the Amiga.

I think Turrican 1 and 2 are best on Amiga. I'd buy it just to play those!

SOLD without reading anything for this... My big question is will the CD32 be supported (or the Amiga 1200 enhanced games)?

This looks great, but speaking as someone not very familiar with the Amiga, are these 25 built-in games a good cross-section of its library? It seems to me these remakes tend to miss a lot of key titles due to licensing issues.

Is it possible to load more games into it?
