I can't get over how much money these companies pull in on option cosmetic stuff. Who would waste their money on something like that? Kids? I can't see seasoned gamers going in for something like that.

Yes, I agree. However, despite all the criticism, those companies still make tons of money with business practices like that. So, I guess there are lots of people who spend there on money on it. So, I can understand why they release games like that. It's a commercial company after all, not a non-profit organisation.

I've heard nightmare stories where kids would use their parents credit card to buy literally hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetic upgrades for characters in games like Fortnite. All so their guy could wear a different color helmet or some dumb crap.

This is the new 1-900 number hotline. That is what my friends used their parents credit cards back in the day.

Considering that EA makes millions, if not Billions, off of annual FIFA micro-transactions, keeping it EA's top money printing franchise globally, can't say I'm shocked. People with too much money/money management problems and not enough responsibilities (job, living upkeeps (food, gas, housing, etc.), etc.). Had these sort of microtransactions been around back in the early 2000s, I might have fallen down that hole. Lord knows I spent WAAAY more money than I should have on games back then...

When I worked retail, I heard horror stories of parents wanting to get their kids away from iPhones/iPod Touches, as they were playing games (the main one referenced was Guitar Hero, though there were others) that had microtransactions and/or paywalls to keep playing.

Yeah, it's pretty much just preying on children.

I think paying for an MMO is pretty darn stupid. Microtransactions are incredibly dumb, I can count on 1 hand how many of these I've done. (1 5 dollar hero on Starcraft... can't think of anything else.)
