It's great that bad games are also preserved

So I saw that "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" will also get a Switch version, with some extra documentary. And thank to QUByte/Piko also some more obscure titles (Zero Tolerance, Tinhead, Gourmet Warriors, Risky Woods) are available on Switch (not exactly Nightdive Studios quality ports, but at least they are available). Nightdive did some great port of average games (like Rise of the Triad) as well. Also other games that haven't aged so well can be played on Switch (like 7th Guest, Monty Mole). Furthermore the Arcade Archives also offer quite some obscure (and badly aged) games.

As a retro gamer, I think it's great that publishers now also release such more obsure games. What more obscure games would you like to see rereleased? (I'd like a chance to play Blade of Vengenace on the Sega Genesis)

All games are worthy of preservation, even the worst ones. Though I can't say I'm ever going to BUY Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, because frankly to me it's worth a negative amount of money, it's good that it and tens of thousands of games across dozens of platforms are available to download online. A lot of terrible games have their own entertainment value. Hell, I even do a thing where I play a bunch of bad fighting games during the month of December and it's usually an amazing time. Battle Master for PS1, anyone? No, I didn't think so either.

So my question is why are they releasing PDWT and who in their right mind would buy it in this day and age?

I love that these games are getting a new lease on life, but I do wish that more effort would be put into preserving the hidden gems lost to time (Clash at Demonhead, The Adventures of Willy Beamish, Dracula Unleashed) than the so-bad-its-ironically-good games like Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties! What about other fmv games like Tomcat Alley, Ground Zero Texas, Fahrenheit? What about games like 3DO’s The Horde, which mixed fmv with actual gameplay?

I get that AVGN has given awful games exposure, but some games should be prioritized.

Kitsch value. Same reason Manos: The Hands of Fate got a Blu-ray restoration.

It's not a zero-sum game. If the people behind those games want them rereleased, they're always able to do so unless in case of exceptional circumstances like no longer having the rights or having lost the source code or something (and even then, most of these games can just be emulated rereleases...)

... the quality of it all is sure to be acceptable for both people that will burn the disc images from the usual Internet Archive location.

I'm not really curious about the game, but I'm kinda curious about the documentary about the game... how could such horrible product see official market release?

Considering it initially only saw release on PC and 3DO, I'm willing to bet the only reason Plumbers Don't Wear Ties ever saw release is because they released them on two platorms where quality control wasn't a thing.
