I was not going to get this but then i found out it was getting delisted and thought I had better do so. I really wanted to play Afterburner, Super Hang on and Outrun on Genesis again. Well I am still waiting as they are not on the collection. Obviously things like Truxton and Thunderforce are not going to be on it but most of the sega arcade games that made it to the console are not on there.
What is on there is loads of sonic games.
Also treasure game the Critic has not played but after his Snes version I am not sure he will want to play them.
Also 3 versions of Golden Axe. I had played the first two and they were good but the third part is an enigma.
Also, for some reason there are loads of RPGs on this compilation. I never knew there were so many on the system.

Re: Sega megadrive/Genesis Classic on Xbox 1 series X/s
The format is presented as your bedroom or that of a teenager from the 90s. Pride of place below a CRT sits a Sega megadrive. To the right is a shelf with about 50 megadrive games in it. You can flick between the options, this is the original format of the Steam game platform. It has been transferred to modern consoles. I had a choice on the final day for downloading these games or Steam, £32 or Xbox £5. Naturally, I chose the cheaper option. It is also available in this format on switch and ps4/ps5 through backwards compatibility.
The games are a to z.
The first game is one I never had on the megadrive. Namely, Alex Kidd in the enchanted castle. The critic generously gave this Super Mario wannabe a respectable D plus. The graphics are great but time has not been kind to this game as the game play is really like a poor woman/man/undefined person Mario. The 4 previous Master System games are not on the compilation. I guess it is called Mega/gen for a reason. The 1989 release looks to be one of the first games out of the gate for the new system. D plus is accurate for it.
Alien Soldier a game by B plus.
Alien Storm based on the Sega arcade game. Wiki has an interesting story that it might have been ported to the Atari Jaguar. The first I have heard of that one. So it is a great game and really needs no introduction but a sold score of a b plus for this one as well. 2 player co op game as well. I used to love couch co op.
Altered beast Based on the arcade game of the same name. Big sprites and a 2 player co op game. I remember enjoying it a lot back in the day but thinking it was a bit too short. c plus
The thing you notice about the game rather quickly is the lack of extras. No printed pdf manuals. No documentaries. No adverts.
