I was interested in the new Doom (haven't played one of these games in a while) until I realized:
1. the complete game is not on disc - you have to download it
2. it requires an online connection even thought it's single player only.
I'll pass. Maybe in the future they'll come back with a stand-along "game of the year" version without all these strings attached. Until then I have plenty of other games to play...

I hate to break it to you Critic, but this is literally going to be every single game in the near, near future. You really think GTA 6 is going to be on disc? I wouldn't even put it past Nintendo to put the next mainline Zelda on one of those silly key cards.

I am hoping it is better than the last game, Doom Raider, wow was that game bad. F-. Looking amazing but was not doom. It was some weird rhythm action game, with FPS and loads of very boring cut scenes. Some waffle about, hell on earth.
Though I think it looks horrible, I am going to play it day one, in case we get something along the lines of the great Doom 2016.
Get Halo infinite instead. That is on Xbox and on disc.

I don't know about that. I've played my share of AAA titles over the past few years and have not been thrilled.

Are you sure about this? What version of the game are you looking at? Because this is a game that does not even have multiplayer, so it seems weird that they would not include the full game on the disc. A quick look at a copy of the game on Amazon seems to suggest the game is on the disc and the disc being present is required to play.
Anyways, maybe you should play Doom Eternal in the meantime if you haven't? I'm not a fan of the nuDoom games despite how much I love the original, but playing them in order makes the most sense to me.

I am playing this now. I am a huge Doom fan, it might be my favorite franchise so I couldn't pass it up. So far it is pretty good, lots of new "techniques" which I am not sure are really necessary. As of now I would rate it a B-/C+ but to be honest I am only about 2.5 hours in so take that with a grain of salt.

Have you got to the Panzer Dragoon section yet? Wow.
