Anthem bug POWERING DOWN PS4s

Postby VideoGameCritic » March 5th, 2019, 7:48 pm

For many years I've been warning about how the online market has been detrimental to game development. Big companies just ship out garbage and leave it to the consumers to do all the beta testing after the fact. Well, we've now reached a new low!

It's bad enough a game crashes your system, but is so catastrophic that the entire system POWERS OFF?!
This could actually be harmful to the hardware! Would you run this game??

This has got to be a new low - even for EA! Thoughts and comments??

It's become almost an echo chamber at this point, but nevertheless it's hard to resist the opportunity to dogpile on EA.

BioWare was a great company and some of their titles are among the best role-playing games ever made. Having acquired them years back, EA has gradually chipped away at what made them special when they were an independent company. It was a similar story back in the 90s with Origin (developers of the Ultima series). Anthem was EA's attempt to cash in on the popularity of persistent-world online shooter RPGs in the vein of Destiny. I strongly believe that BioWare really had no say in this matter. It's just a painful example of design-by-committee video games, the product of focus groups rather than innovation. It would be one thing if the game were just boring. But boring and broken? Unforgivable and undeserving of the name of BioWare.
