Final Fantasy VII - released for Switch & Xbox One

Well, I can't have a retro Cloud Strife as my avatar and not pass along this good news -- Final Fantasy VII is now out for the first time on Nintendo and Microsoft systems. The game was released this week for digital download on both the Switch and the Xbox One, selling for $15.99. I didn't even know this release was planned, until a saw an ad pop up in my Instagram feed today...

This release is identical to the remastered version that came out on the PS4 a few years back. Note: this is not the remake of FF7, as that project is still in the works and has no release date anywhere in sight. Instead, this remaster is very similar to the PS1/PC original, but with a slight graphics boost and a few quality-of-life enhancements. I'm currently playing it on the PS4 and feel that it still holds up well, and, with the new upgrades, it's the best way to play the game. If you've never played FF7 before, now is as good a chance as any.
