I'll give Konami credit though for releasing the PC Engine Mini a few years ago. That's bar nine my favorite of the mini consoles released this far.

Hopefully, they are willing to license their games to Sega. Failing that a Kojima Classics release would be pretty sweet.

Special Content:
-Devi & Pii (An unreleased Genesis prototype)
-Fantasy Zone (A brand new port of arcade Fantasy Zone to the Genesis)
-Space Harrier II + Space Harrier (A port of the Genesis game with proper sprite scaling, with Space Harrier added in; Unconfirmed if these run via the Sega CD or run natively on the Mini II's hardware)
-Spatter (A new Genesis port of an 80's Sega arcade game)
-Star Mobile (An unreleased Genesis prototype)
-Super Locomotive (A new Genesis port of an 80's Sega arcade game)
-VS Puyo Puyo Sun (A new Genesis port of the 1996 arcade game)

Lastly, several of the Genesis games have had additions.

Additions:
-Hellfire (Sega's trailer discusses unspecified "new features and options")
-Phantasy Star II (Adjustable movement speed and a new easy mode)
-Truxton (Comes with a new option to play background music at its original arcade speed)

Worth noting I suppose that we only get a dozen Sega CD games versus 20 in the Japanese system. Most of the cuts were expected given their Japanese exclusivity and the rights issues with the localized Lunar ports, but a couple of the others are surprises since they did see western releases (Popful Mail and StarBlade).

Japan's Mega CD lineup:
-Captain Tsubasa
-Ecco the Dolphin CD
-Final Fight CD
-Lunar: Eternal Blue
-Lunar: The Silver Star
-Mahou no Shoujo: Silky Lip
-Mansion of Hidden Souls
-Night Striker

-Romance of the Three Kingdoms III
-Shin Megami Tensei
-Shining Force CD

-Sonic CD
-StarBlade
-Tenka Fubu: Eiyutachi no Houkou
-Wondermega Collection

I wonder if it's based on the same hardware as the original Mini? If so then it's going to be an easy hack to swap out the games. We had limited memory available on the previous model. Hopefully, they only increased the memory versus a complete change in hardware. Having said that an increase in processing power and RAM wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to help with speeding up the menus with adding tons of extra games on it.

Welp, no Popful Mail on US, no real reason for my attention, as I have a Gen Mini I modded, and none of the CD games on US II are MUST get for me.

I think the Mega Drive Mini 2 has an awesome collection of games - much more interesting than the 'regular choices' of the Mini 1. It has many games I'd like to try but are too expensive to buy second handed (especially Atomatic Runner and Ranger-X), so yeah, I'm excited for this one (also for the new take on Space Harrier II!)

This strikes me as one of those mini-consoles that's going to be REALLY hard to get if you don't preorder.

Now to wrestle with whether it's worth purchasing this, just for a better Space Harrier II.

This has been at the top of my M2 wishlist forever, right next to Virtua Fighter in any kind of portable form.

They could have easily rounded this up to 20, in the western market:

-Earthworm Jim: Special Edition
-Dracula Unleashed
-Ground Zero Texas
-Dragon’s Lair
-Space Ace
-Out of This World/Heart of the Alien
-Eternal Champions (I’m assuming the violence kept that one off of this)

They also could have chased after a few obscurities, such as:

-The Adventures of Willy Beamish (how hard would it have been to secure the rights to this one?)
-Secret of Monkey Island (granted, this is owned by Disney….but so is Mickey Mouse, who appeared on the first Mini)
