Switch Dock Problems

Postby VideoGameCritic » July 4th, 2022, 8:49 pm

Well I was hoping to temporarily move my Switch downstairs so we'd have more room to review Switch Sports, but I guess I shouldn't have touched it.

Now it won't output to the TV. When I turn it on, the screen comes on instead. I've been messing with it for an hour now. I read about rebooting the thing and plugging in the cables in a particular order, but nothing has worked.

I watched one YouTube video that demonstrated how if the dock is working, the screen will turn off when you place it in the dock. Mine does not do that. Unfortunately a replacement dock is $140. For that cheap piece of plastic?? Thanks Nintendo!

The weird thing is, I believe I've run into this problem before. I'm hoping it will just sort of magically fix itself. If anyone has any advice I'm all ears.

What are you plugging it into? Is it directly into the TV or an AV Receiver/switch box of some sort?

I'm sure you've considered plugging straight into the TV and/or replacing the the HDMI cable.

Knock off docks are $25 on Amazon.

Nintendo's website official docks run for $60.

Crisis averted! Turns out I had the power plugged into the USB port! (it fits but a little loose)

That's what I get for trying to hook up things without my glasses!

Thanks to Actraiser who gave me the Nintendo direct link - it's good to know.
