Yeah, considering all the issues with Xbox 360's, it's hard to totally discount the theory. It's like you were talking about the Red Rings of Death well before it really blew up into a big issue. I lost a 360 to the RROD around like 2008, and then (much more recently, in 2020) my 360 developed a disc read error. I replaced that with one of the later models, which are said to be much more durable. So far no problems, but we'll see.

Funny enough, the unique detachable hard drive of the 360 turned out to be one of its best features.. not because of the "bring it to your friend's house" flexibility that Microsoft touted, but because you got to easily save all your data and swap it over when your system failed.
