Turok 3 (Nintendo 64)

Postby VideoGameCritic » June 9th, 2024, 11:15 am

I have a lot of review notes reminding me to review certain games at certain times of the year. I've had Turok 3 on my "summer" list for years. Probably because I associate the series with dinosaurs, and dinosaurs with summer.

Anyway, finally playing Turok 3 and I like it! No dinosaurs to speak up, but the dystopian future aesthetics are very effective. The campaign is intense! Very good graphics and sound, although the first-person platform navigation gets on my nerves.

Tried the four-player split-screen and it was kind of a mess. The arenas are confusing and the weapons hard to use. In capture the flag mode I kept killing my "partner" Brian over and over again.

Of course, now I feel like I need to revisit the first two games to polish up those reviews and dig up some better screenshots.

Thoughts?

“Partner”? I knew it!

(That’s a joke, be cool everyone).

For better multiplayer experience, try Turok: Rage Wars. It's focused in multi, like Quake 3 Arena or Unreal Tournament.

Recently the three Turok games have been re-released for modern platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. I think these versions don't have much in the way of multiplayer, but for single player they may be a worthy upgrade.

Spot on, GStratos. In fact, Turok 3 is currently available for pre-order if you want a physical copy for Xbox, PS4 or Switch...

I have a download copy of Turok on Xbox Series X. It is good if a little obtuse as it is not a hand holding game like COD.

I also, have 2 and 3 on Steam. I have not played them yet.

My fave Turok out of the original trilogy, the stages are shorter and more dynamic instead of the huge mammoth stages of the past two games, also there are some Half-Life sci-fi influentes on it, underrated game.
