Stray (PS5)

Postby SpiceWare » January 17th, 2023, 3:51 pm

Noticed Stray while looking thru the games included with my new Playstation Plus account. Graphics, and brief summary, looked intriguing so I downloaded the PS5 version (also available for PS4).

Story promptly sucked me in.I'm currently at the "jail" portion of the storyline. Not sure how far along that is as I've purposely been avoiding spoilers.

Viewpoint is from cat level - I had to train myself early on to look upward for places a cat can jump to, such as a window's air conditioner unit that's used to make your way up to the rooftops.

Stray makes good use of the DualSense features, such as if you find a place to take a nap then set the controller down in your lap the controller will use the haptic feedback and built in speaker to simulate having a purring cat in your lap. Adaptive triggers come into play when you make the cat knead things. I'm not familiar with the PS4 controllers, so don't know how well these features are supported on the prior PlayStation.

Never knew I'd want to channel my inner cat

The potential for pussy jokes in this thread is going to be astronomical.

[EXPLETIVE]

I did actually like Stray myself. Although I'm heavily biased, I am a massive cat boy, games about cats are just bound to win me over.

I recently rewatched Are You Being Served? which is full of those, here's a YouTube collection of them:

Mrs Slocombe's Hilarious Pussy Cat Moments | Are You Being Served?

It's a British series from 1972-85, that I originally watched on PBS. I imported the box set which also includes the sequel, Grace & Favour from 1992-93. The sequel was broadcast in the US as Are You Being Served? Again!

I've taken to importing old series from Europe because the PAL DVDs (576i) contain 20% more picture detail than the NTSC DVDs (480i) that are available in the US. The difference is quite noticeable on modern HD and 4K TV sets. My current setup even supports 50 Hz playback, a 4K Vizio TV + Apple TV 4K that streams from PLEX running on my Synology NAS, so no 50 Hz to 60 Hz conversion judder that's usually seen when watching European TV shows in the US.

This game is currently only sale for $15 for Xbox, in case anyone wanted to give it a whirl but was on the fence:
