I think I'll leave this one for the critic. He gave Hollow Knight an A+, so hearing his thoughts on the sequel would be way more interesting than hearing mine.

Well I won't be trying my hand at this one until it appears on physical media. Maybe by then they'll have all the kinks worked out. I hear a lot of players have voiced frustration.

What kinks are you referring to?

I heard the difficulty was a little extreme when they first released the game, but they relaxed it a bit.

Only on a few bosses as far as I know, still a very difficult game.

I would guess he would be banking on the physical edition including the patches and not be initiated as a separate download.

I played it before and after the patch, and I honestly couldn't tell the difference. So many of the bosses do two masks worth of damage (or more) per hit that it makes me wonder why they even bothered giving Hornet so many masks to begin with.

Very unlikely for physical versions to include patches unless it's some sort of special rerelease like a Game of the Year edition or something. The entire point of a patch is that they don't have to now reprint and rerelease entire new physical copies to fix anything.

Played for 40 hours over a month and I've hit the wall with it - every route I have available going forward feels like a chore at this point. It's a shame, I just fought the Cogwork Dancers and that's my favorite boss fight of the game so far. I plan on going back and finishing in the near future but I've moved on for now. I don't think I'd score it any lower than a B+, though - there's too much love and care on display for me to dismiss it.
