Sly Cooper Thieves in Time

Postby Ozzybear1 » December 14th, 2013, 1:59 am

Got this as an early Christmas gift. So been playing it a lil bit and its
a nice change to my usual style of game play. I didn't get into the series
before, but so far I do like this game, and I think I may pick up the disk
that has the collection of previous Sly titles on it as I have done this with
a couple other series that I have missed out on also. Anyway not to get
off of subject, I do like this so far, has a simple but not too simple type
of gameplay that can appeal to all gamers I think. what is everyone
else's thoughts on this game?

My only complaint so far, is that you have to have the reg Ps3 Sixaxis controller to progress
in parts of this game, you don't have one, well then your F'd !!! you would think this is something
that wouldn't be mandatory! Luckily I have mine to get through this parts, but I use another
controller that is just more comfortable to me, and think this is more a pain than anything.

I'm surprised there are still games that actually support the Sixaxis, did the developers learn nothing from Lair?

darkrage6- I completed Lair. I guess I was a masochist.

Ozzybear-There definitely isn't a way to use a regular controller? That's insane if that's true. I wanted to try this game at some point, but that's scaring me away from it.

At least there was a later patch in Lair which gives you the option of using a regular dualshock controller.

I don't know what would possess the developers to force you to use a controller that most people had quit using by that point, does it even mention anywhere on the box that you need a Sixaxis controller?  If not that's incredibly asinine.

This is also availible on the Vita, and i'm guessing on that version you have to use the motion tilt.

If by regular controller you're talking about the Dual Shock 3 that most PS3's shipped with, that controller retains SixAxis functionality. You don't need the original gamepad that lacked rumble that was known as the SixAxis if that's what you're worried about.

Most every PS3 owner surely has at least 1 1st party PS3 gamepad. So while you might unfortunately prefer to use something else like Ozzybear does, chances are you have what you need on hand for the game.

there s no way around it, you have to have the sixaxis controls.
yes, most like myself have the controller and use a different one,
but for myself there is a reason for that, my controller hasn't been
working right lately ( d pad gone bad ) , but I was still able to hook
it up and use it for those moments in the game, at least so far anway
lol, other than that, I am really enjoying this game!

I really enjoyed the first two games in this series. The first one is
a fairly straightforward action-platforming game with some stealth
elements (sneaking past guards, traps and security systems), some
mini-games (turret-shooting, racing, etc.) and a good number of
optional but useful abilities that you could collect.

The second game has similar mechanics, but is a bit more unique. Each
stage is a small but detailed open-world where you have to perform a
series of tasks to prepare for a heist; once you have performed all the
necessary tasks/collected the needed items, everything you have already
done during the stage comes together during the end heist.

Above all, these are both good-looking, stylish games with jazzy scores
and a lot of fun, charming characters. There's even some witty dialogue and
good voice-acting to top it all off. I still need to play both the third PS2 game
and this one (which was made by a different developer; the first three games
were made by Sucker Punch, who also made the Infamous series).
