I remember playing through the game upon its release, enjoying elements but finding some difficult to adjust to or feeling clumsy (the combat system was a big departure and made me think of a Tiger Woods golf game). Also, the ghosts that couldn't be destroyed and could only be avoided early on made me feel rushed and unable to appreciate the exploration and scenery like SH2.
Having watched Necroscope do a longplay of it on YouTube, I've decided to dig my PS2 out and re-evaluate it. Up to the prison at the moment.
Particularly with how the series has developed and this being the final Team Silent game, albeit not originally intended to be a Silent Hill game, I'm beginning to really appreciate SH4. Great story and atmosphere. The combat system doesn't seem to bother me anymore and I'm quite enjoying it.

Silent Hill 4: The Room
I thought it was great. It is a shame it did not feature in the HD redux.

Silent Hill 4: The Room
I've heard that the HD collection was a terrible port of the first three games, so I never bothered getting it.
Anyways I enjoyed this one well enough.
