From the studio that gave us the amazing Yakuza games comes a similarly themed title, based on the uber-popular Fist of the North Star Anime/Manga.
My hope is that the franchise would get the game it deserves, since "Fist" games over the years have tended to be middling quality.
I'm mostly pleased with it so far, though it is interesting how "bare bones" this feels compared to any of the recent Yakuza titles. They use a more cartoonish art style, fitting the source material, and it is so clear how the hyper-realism of the Yakuza series benefits these games. It just looks less cool and a bit less fun when that realism isn't there.
That said, Kenshiro's signature fighting style is well-realized and fun to use. They don't skimp on the violence and gore: you'll hit those pressure points and bad guys will explode in ridiculous bags of blood n' guts. It's pretty comical.
Like the Yakuza games, Ken has a number of fun sidequest activities. The standouts are hostess club management (yes, somehow, this is a thing in the post-nuclear holocaust world that Fist is in) and bartending.
For Yakuza studio/Fist fans, this is a solid B to B+. For the rest of you, get it on discount and mash through it on a rainy day sometime.
