Alien's Return (Atari 2600)

Postby VideoGameCritic » January 4th, 2019, 6:45 pm

I'm reviewing a ROM of an obscure 1983 game for the Atari 2600. It looks like an Alien knock-off, but I think the main character is supposed to be ET! Anyway I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play this horrible maze game. If anyone has a clue please pass it along.

Here are some instructions that a very helpful person posted on AtariAge quite a while back: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/59639-what-the-deuce-is-going-on-in-aliens-revenge/?p=729301

And in addition to that, the large block that appears in the middle replenishes the blocks you can drop to slow down the aliens.

The game was also released under a few other names including Col 'N' and E.T Go Home: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-alien-s-return_7818.html

If it makes you feel better, I'm playing it using my Harmony Cart.
So I'm using the real system with a real controller!

Sweet! I love seeing you review odd stuff for Atari 2600, especially the weird world of PAL exclusives. :) Try "Parachute" sometime; there's a NTSC conversion by Thomas Jentzsch available on AtariAge (for that and every PAL game).
