This game is part of my new lineup of summer games! Can't believe I missed it - glad a reader spoke up.
This is a very advanced version of River Raid. The shores curve, and you can actually fly over the land as long as you don't touch the trees. Very smooth animation and tight controls. And the bridges are more fun to blow up because they are huge! I'm kind of surprised you don't hear more about this. Must have come out toward the end of the system's life cycle.

Wow I checked it out on YouTube. That is quite an upgrade from the 2600 version.

i'm suprised because Activision always had that really dumb policy to make games look the same on all systems

I look forward to seeing how it compares to the ColecoVision version.

It is a really cool version. I usually play the Atari computer version, but I wish I had the Intellivision version as well.

Re: River Raid (Intellivision)
It's true that River Raid is a fairly uncommon game on the Intellivision and commands a higher price than most of the other Activision games (I don't remember whether it or Worm Whomper costs more these days).
Glad you're having fun with it and looking forward as always to more Intellivision coverage!

While nothing can dethrone the 2600 original, it's a nice and unique variant.

Do you like the 2600 version more than the Atari computer version? I always thought that the tanks, balloons, and better defined canyon made it the best version, although some like the Colecovision graphics better. I like the original graphical style, so to me, the A8 version is the best.
