I'm trying my best, but man, I can't get into this. The graphics have a subtle beauty but the platforming is ho hum. I like being about to shoot stuff, but the save system is terrible! I know this is highly rated but I feel like I'm having to force myself to play it.
I think I might like it better had I not played Hollow Knight which is similar (and better).

Take a break from it, play something else. I highly recommend you go back to it in a few weeks. Some games take forever to get into. While Ori is not as good as Hollow Knight / Axiom Verge and so on it is still a very good Metroidvania type title. Like all Vania's they take a while to get into. Most do not instant hook you like Axiom Verge.
