Paper Mario: Origami King

Postby CaptainCruch » May 27th, 2021, 9:34 am

I just finished Paper Mario: The Origami King (Switch). Overall, I liked it. It has nice writing, but I agree with almost all critics the grid based battle system is kinda tedious (and pointless) (except for the bosses, which are fun). The game looks and sounds great and controls fine. Also, the game feels a little old-fashioned sometimes with only save points on fixed locations and some fetch quests. But really, the immense charm saves this game from almost all its faults. I would give it a B. What did you think of the game?

I have heard very good things about this game, but I still wish Nintendo and Intelligent Systems would make a traditional Paper Mario game like the first two games (although I've seen so much praise for the indie "spiritual successor"/tribute, Bug Fables). A real follow up to The Thousand Year Door would make my life complete.
