The Curse of Issyos (IOS)

If you ever wanted to re-enact Greek mythology, this game gives you that chance. Taking a cue from the Castlevania series developed by Locomalito, you are a fisherman who has to rescue his daughter from a cursed island. The adventure won't be easy as you'll face a wide range of Greek monsters including Polyphemus (a cyclops), a hydra, talos, harpies, medusa, scylla, minotaur, cerberus, even the great god Hades himself. You get three weapons at your disposal: sword, bow, and spear, the bow is the only subweapon which requires arrows, the sword is faster but up close, the spear is slower but hits farther. There's also two different endings one where you are able to save your daughter and the other where you have failed. There are a lot of touches to Ray Harryhausen such as giant scorpions, Talos turning his head, Medusa carrying a bow and arrow, and the Hydra looks like the one from Jason and the Argonauts. The only few flaws is the control scheme (at least on mine) is a bit wonky, but once I get the hang of it better, it will be smooth sailing, and the second is unlike Castlevania, when you complete a level your health doesn't get restored. The challenge is pretty reasonable and you get unlimited continues. Overall, this is a great find, a game from Mt. Olympus!
