Remembering Norm Macdonald

Postby Breaker » September 18th, 2021, 12:49 pm

I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm going to miss this fearless comedian. He was completely unafraid to wade into topics that were supposedly untouchable, which I frankly think is inspiring. He always had this slightly mad glint in his eye, like he knew something was coming, and he would stare you down through the camera when doing Weekend Update on SNL, daring you to laugh.

My wife and I saw him live a few years back in Portland, and he was just as good as ever. Sad to hear he was suffering from and eventually succombed to cancer. There are so many great clips of him on Youtube, either Weekend Updste or from Conan O'Brien's show (and probably others).

Loved Norm. I thought he was the best weekend update anchor of all time.

He was also apparently a deeply-closeted gay man, although he was not gay.

my favorite of all time...this is the 1st time i have ever cried when a celeb died..i think a lot of it has to do with me and my dad would watch Norm together all the time...we watched every episode of the awesome sitcom Norm when it aired in from 99 to 01 and then later bought it on DVD and every talk show appearance...its so sad that he hid his illness for 9 years but looking back now you can see the changes over the years.....totally bummed by this...RIP Norm

I just looked up the DVD show of the Norm Show on ebay and amazon, and the prices are sky high.

I'm hoping they re-release it. I would love to pick this up.
