Comcast and Privacy

Postby VideoGameCritic » January 19th, 2022, 4:46 pm

Did you know that if you are a Comcast customer by default you've opted in to them gathering all sorts of information about you and selling it? You need to go to this page to "opt out" of these things.

https://www.xfinity.com/privacy/manage-preference

I just learned this today. Stuff like this could give Comcast a bad name!

That might be the most patronizing page I've ever seen.

I hate to seem even remotely political, but stuff like this seriously should be illegal. Working class people are entirely too busy with so many other things to be expected to take the time to sift through this kind of crap.

It will never be illegal as long as corporations are allowed to decide the law through their lobbyists. Our country is governed by money.

Yeah it's pretty sickening honestly but like Stalvern said it's almost impossible to do anything about it. The world sucks.

You have no privacy anymore. It is an obsolete liberty. Everything you do on your phone or the internet is recorded and stored by the government and their corporate partners. Watch some videos of Snowden and see what else pops up.

I can just picture my state senator now “Geez, he’s looking at that same video game review site for the 20th time in 3 days.”

This is why you should get a VPN which keeps no logs and no records of payments (mostly eastern European outfits). It’s the only way to stay off the eye of corporations, hackers and governments these days.
