I liked a working man but it was preposterous in story, a bit like Seagals wig. If anyone wants to watch more Seagal movies there are loads of them on Tubi.

After giving it another watch yes I can see people liking “A Working Man”, Jason Statham’s 2025 film.

What I think happened is since it was based on a book they followed the book. Hence, there’s none of the humor or lightness in virtually every other Statham movie that reminds you that’s what he’s all about. He kind of goes overboard with the serious story and it’s the first time ever watching him that I felt he was unnecessarily killing too many people.

I’m not sure how amazing of a book it was based on because it’s basically the exact same story as Jean Claude Van Damme’s “6 Bullets”.

Edit: Ok, ill admit it’s really good. The action is fantastic. The fight at the beginning at the construction site is epic.

I just watched the four Universal Soldier movies starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lungren. If you're a Van Damme fan like me, you'll want to see them all. Otherwise just stick to the first one.

Universal Soldier (1992) - This is a solid B-grade action movie with lots of fights and some pretty amazing practical effects. Even some humor to keep things light. Grade: B.

Universal Soldier: The Return (1999) - This maintains the same style with lots of action, bits of humor, and over-the-top villains. The story and dialog are pretty bad though, and it looks like a low-budget, made-for-TV movie. On the plus side, it features the awesome martial artist Michael Jai White and there's a gratuitous strip club scene. Grade: C

Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2010) - This marks a stark change in tone for the series. Very serious, very glum, and shot in muted tones of gray. Van Damme looks tired and lacks physicality. Like this character, I don't think he wanted to be there. On the plus side, you get to see another battle between him and Dolph Lungren. Grade: D

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012) - If you thought the last one was dark, this is downright DIRE. Brutal violence with fingers and toes getting lopped off and a family being slaughtered. Hard to take at times, but very intense and more compelling than the last two. The main character is played by Scott Adkins who is an amazing martial artist and good actor too. Van Damme plays a zombie-like character who's mainly just there for the final fight. Apparently he was only available to shoot for two days. Grade: D+

Time to play the game by way of tie in? Think Accolade converted Turrican into a Uni Soldier game.

Project Hail Mary. Superb SF movie which i watched at the cinema.

Basically the Sun has caught a cold and Ryan needs to go to Tau Ceti to get a cure. So when he wakes up from Deep sleep he finds himself alone but he makes friends with an Alien. Such a good time. A +

Probably time to see Super Mario Bros, when the kids go back to school

I watched another Van Damme "classic" the other night: Double Impact. He plays the role of two brothers, one nice guy and one bad ass. It was recently released on 4K Blu Ray and looks fantastic.

Anyway this film feels like less than its parts. It's got everything. Great fights, great characters, great scenery... but the story is almost impossible to follow. The movie is far too long, and it ends abruptly with a still of Van Damme giving the thumbs up. I just don't get it.

You are not the only one who thought it was incomprehensible.

I am watching The Package Starring Gene Hackman who was also fabulous in Superman. The Richard Donner classic, not the daft Jimmy (RaY)Gunn movie.

It is hard to follow and i loved that. It is a conspiracy thriller. Anyway I just noticed at 38 minutes they are in a bar and There is a Williams Sinistar game in the background. Awesome.

I watched Dirty Harry staring of course, Clint Eastwood. I enjoyed it but it is far from a great movie, I would rate it average at best. I think my biggest issue with the movie is that there were so many shots filmed at night and it was impossible to figure out what was going on. Also, the ending is a bit cheesy. This movie spurred on several sequels which I think I am going to check out.

Also, I watched "Into the Storm", an HBO movie from 2009 about Winston Churchill during WW2. Good movie but if you want to see a much better movie on this topic, I would recommend "Darkest hour" from 2017, staring Gary Oldman as Churchill.
