Having said that they don't compare to the original shorts or source material by any means. However, it was still fun to experience Loony Tunes with my daughter in an actual movie theater.

Well now you've convinced me to see them!

Just watched Dead Calm (1989) starring Sam Neill, Nicole Kidman, and Billy Zane. Wow this is a really intense thriller. Great performances all around.

Sat down and watched Ferris Bueller's Day off a few nights ago. It was the first time I seen it, and I have to say I thought it was pretty decent and kind of makes me wish I had the nerve to do all the stuff Ferris did when I'd skip school. Usually, I'd just hole up in my room and play video games or read something. But that guy wound up stealing his friend's father's car, singing in a parade, hanging in the pool with his friend and girlfriend. All while avoiding his principal, his parents and his sister. Fun movie, and I'd definitely watch it again.

I also went out with the missus and caught the new Insidious movie recently. We both thought it was pretty good, though the scenes in the dentist office were kind of gross. Especially when she was looking in the mouth of the creepy old man and wound up pulling an extra long hair or something out of his teeth. That kind of made me wince and makes me glad I never wanted to take up dentistry. Definitely nothing wrong with being a dentist. I just don't have the stomach for it, so it's not for me.

Do watching movies on Svengoolie on MeTV count?

I had watched the 1941 film Man-Made Monster on one episode I recorded, and I thought it was a blast: Lon Chaney Jr. plays a man known as Dynamo Dan, the Electric Man, who survived a lethal crash until a mad scientist electrocutes him into an electric zombie, frames him for a murder, and then turns on his master and flees until he gets caught in a barbed wire fence and dies at the end…all of this while Svengoolie himself gives some hilarious commentary and tells some great jokes that made me crack up hard.

They even showed the Svengoolie cast appearing at a convention, complete with Svengoolie tossing a rubber chicken at a Wonder Woman cosplayer and photoshopping himself on an old Action Comics cover with Superman.

It’s not related, but I’ve also been watching Kerwyn’s Corner where a rubber chicken puppet with teeth tells a joke from whoever submits a joke and gets chosen, including this one:

Did you know the Pentagon was going to be an octagon?

It was going to, but the contractor kept cutting corners.

Technically, they do showcase classic horror movies, but it’s so much fun watching the hosts make hilarious jokes and then get pelted by rubber chickens…so funny.

Excellent movie, I have not seen it for a while but I loved it when I saw it.

Just watched "The Sandlot" for the first time. A decent "coming of ages" movie centered around a bunch of kids near LA during the late 50's who are obsessed with playing baseball. I have heard a bunch of hype on this one over the years so I expected it to be much better. That said, it''s a breezy 90 minutes long and it never takes itself too seriously. I would rate it a C+.

With not much to do this weekend and it being unseasonably cold (thus, stuck inside), I took advantage of one of our many subscriptions and watched Super Troopers 2. I was pleasantly surprised, I thought overall it was a funny and entertaining movie. Is it as good as the first Super Troopers? Not quite but there were a number of laugh out loud moments. Back in the 80's as a kid these types of irreverent movies were a dime a dozen but nowadays they don't seem to make movies like this any longer. I think if you enjoyed the first one you will get a kick out of the sequel. Next on my list is Super Troopers 3....

Watched The Untouchables earlier this evening. Kevin Costner did a great job portraying the famous Prohibition era crimefighter Elliot Ness and Robert DeNiro makes for a good Al Capone. But for me, Sean Connery as hard boiled cop Jim Malone stole the show. He had so many great lines throughout the movie, and he delivered all of them perfectly. That is, till he got shot to bits by Capone's top henchman, the evil Frank Nitty, played by Billy Drago. Who did a stellar job in the screen time allotted to him. I first seen this movie well over 30 years ago on a family movie night. I thought it was pretty good back then, but now many years later, I think it's absolutely brilliant. Great story, some great dialogue, tons of action and a fantastic score by Ennio Morricone. Highly recommended. 9/10.
