I think a perfect example of what I’m talking about is a so called mediocre movie “Easy Come, Easy Go”. Sure I can’t necessarily disagree if someone says it sucks, but there’s a lot of beautiful women in bikinis and they’re in close to half the movie.

At a certain point, there’s only so bad a movie can be under those circumstances. Beautiful women, and nothing that really drags the movie down, is not all that bad.

Sort of reiterating last post, I watched “Paradise Hawaiian Style”, the first time in a while I’d watched the whole movie. And I’d been almost taking to heart all of the critics who were bashing the film, thinking whatever maybe they are actually right.

And the movie is freaking awesome. Yes, the plot is thin, but who cares, Suzanna Leigh looks freaking amazing in her bikini. Elvis has like 5 other girlfriends too who are in bikinis. And the mid 1960’s technicolor of Hawaii is amazing. The haters are just that. I know one thing, This movie didn’t come out in 2026.

Every time I come back to Elvis movies I think, this is the time they’re going to get exposed as being what all the critics say.

But I think it’s scientifically impossible for something with pretty girls in bikinis, and Elvis singing to not be cool. And it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the mere possibility of watching a “2026” movie. Even a movie like “Double Trouble”.

My mother, who was an Elvis fan from her childhood, was still fanatical for him as an elderly lady. She was particularly fond of his movies in the '60s.

Recently, about a six weeks ago, she passed away. She requested that they not do hymns at her funeral, but just play Elvis songs instead. He had done Gospel songs so we did some of those, but we always followed them up with one of his knee twisters, like "Hunka Hunka Burnin Love". The ministers at the funeral home weren't terribly happy about that, but eh... I know where they can stick that concern.

So sorry for your loss, m0zart. She sounds like she was quite the lady.

I’m sorry for your loss m0zart. That’s a funny story about Burning Love. If I were to suggest some 60’s ones.

1. “Viva Las Vegas” (1964): This is the one that even non die hards love. Still a great movie even after repeated watches. It has iconic songs in it.

2. “Live a Little, Love a Little” (1968): I’m going to break from the norm here as this is a fantastic movie, the most mature movie in the Elvis cannon. A lot of fans saw it as a welcome respite from the formula.

3. “Blue Hawaii” (1961): It’s a truly can’t miss charming movie that has a ton of songs.

Here are others that are also can’t miss:

4. “Roustabout” (1964)
5. “Girls, Girls, Girls” (1962)
6. “Change of Habit” (1969)
7. “Follow that Dream” (1962)

I noticed a couple weeks ago Shelly Fabares passed away. She was in 3 Elvis movies and was fantastic in them. Of the 3, the best is “Girl Happy” which is a great movie. She was beautiful and had great chemistry with Elvis.

Sorry for your loss M0zart. For anyone to have loved Elvis like your mother did I can confidently say your mother must've had some soul. I've thought about how I'd like the song "My Way" by Elvis to be played at my funeral. Sure Sinatra did a fine job as well with that song, but there isn't a single time where I've wanted to hear that song and would've preferred to hear Frank's version. I watched a video of him performing it near his end. Knowing what we know now it's fairly easy to see that he himself knew he didn't have much longer.

And jon you're right about Elvis movies being enjoyable to watch. Every time i went to watch one I sat completely through it or at least finished it later. That means something to me since I just got done rewinding close to 20 VHS movies that I had no interest in finishing.

And all that mention of pretty ladies and bikinis........ well here's one of my guilty pleasures; I'll often watch Baywatch on mute. My only real complaint about the show is David Jerkoff.

Not only are the girls hot, they’re really hot. It’s like for an Elvis movie there were standards that were ridiculously high. Heck, even Bond girls aren’t that attractive on average.

One thing about these Elvis movies is that they were in and out before the whole “PC” movement. The last movies were 1968-1969. There’s no way these movies could’ve been made today with needed to be “appropriate in 2026”.

Those jerks in the media talking smack saying oh, those movies are outdated, embarrassing or sucked. They’re trying to skew reality because they’re not totally comprised and adherent to today’s norms. They know full well that these Elvis movies are still popular and more people enjoy them than they want to admit.

Even the “worst” Elvis movies I still find absolutely hilarious. For instance “Harum Scarum”. Widely considered the worst it’s still a breezy, short movie. It’s been written that Elvis perhaps didn’t like a lot of these formula movies. I just find it hilarious the idea of maybe not being crazy about some of these poorly received movies, yet making $1 million dollars plus a large chunk of the profits. It’s a pretty crazy type of job so to speak.
