Title: "i made a movie. it stunk." Actually, from the review he reads, the movie was well made; the story stunk (Pacing problems.)

Reminds me of this old article from The Bad Movie Report, about the authors experiences writing & working on a Direct-to-Video feature in the 80's: http://www.stomptokyo.com/badmoviereport/making.html

A 50's theater owner was impressed by This is CineRama, but CineRama was too expensive, so he made his own version:

Apparently, he hadn't heard of the Fleischer Brother's cartoon tracing method.

Here's more info from the Missouri Historical Society: https://shsmo.org/manuscripts/rolla/r1499.pdf

And From Widescreen Museum: http://www.widescreenmuseum.com/widescr ... carney.htm He calls it "The Smith-Carney System."

Here's the patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/US3144806A/en

In celebration of Christmas, here's an old Rudolph cartoon: https://archive.org/details/RudolphTheR ... indeer1948

This was made by the Jam Handy Organization for Montgomery Wards, who owned the story at the time. This is actually a later edit; the short was made before the song, which was added in 1951. The Library of Congress posted the original short, here: https://blogs.loc.gov/now-see-hear/2014 ... film-role/

Footage of Nara Dreamland, Japan's unofficial Disneyland, when it was still open. On ride footage of the Bobsled, Aska, Monorail, and Cable cars. Empty, but still in fairly good repair. Probably from the late 90's.
