I do not understand what the author of the first message of this discussion meant by "kids movies".

As I understand it Shirley Temple's movies were enjoyed by kids and adults when first released, and I remember watching a few of them when they were released on VHS in the 90's. They may be too sappy for today's audiences tho; it's been a long time since I've seen one.

I might argue that March of the Wooden Soldiers aka Babes in Toyland starring Laurel and Hardy is still enjoyable for kids and adults, but I'm not sure if they were specifically aiming for kids.

Since All Hallows Eve approaches, I must mention Hocus Pocus. Someone here reviewed it recently, and it is a lot of fun.

Monster Squad

I watched this a couple years ago for the first time in a long time (my wife had never even heard of it) and I was surprised by some of the language and the brief nudity in it. I guess I always watched the edited versions on weekend afternoons as a kid. Still loved the movie but I wouldn't let my 4 & 7 year old watch this for some time.

There is brief nudity in Monster Squad? Missed that one..I know it's a bit suggested in the scene where Frankenstein's monster snaps a picture of the neighbor..but i'm pretty sure it's never shown.
I will agree it has a choice word or two but that was par for the course for 80's flicks. The Goonies had a word or two in it as well..E.T. had a good one it as well now that I think of it. haha!

I recently watched the Sandlot with my kids and was shocked at the amount of bad language in it. I saw that movie a dozen times as a kid and had no memory of that. Perhaps I saw it on TV?
