She wasn't "flying", she was using the force to get back into the ship. Duh! I liked the movie a lot. My only real issue was the casino world scene, not a big fan. I liked that it took risks and introduced new things. I am really excited to see where it goes. I would rate them as follows:

Empire
New Hope
Rogue One
Force Awakens
Last Jedi
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the clones
Phantom Menace

By the way I watched Clones and Phantom Menace with my daughter over the weekend. First time I had watched them in years. OMG they are even worse then I remembered!

Yes they are aging very badly, which seeing as they weren’t very good to begin with only adds credence to their much maligned status.

IM a casual fan (like Star Trek much more), and thank goodness, diehard SW fans are impossible to please. TLJ was great. Sure, like other modern movies, it was too long, which means that it has some filler that could have been cut and not sacrifice the story, but it was entertaining, expanded on the mythology of the force, and made good use of Fisher and Hammil.

Everyone griping needs to band together with the other nerds and just chill out

I loved it.

I kept waiting for Leia to die and then when she came back unexpectedly, well, it kept surprising me. Luke drinking dragon's milk, um, yeah, I didn't see that coming.

That to me was the first time I've ever watched a 2 and half hour long movie and never once checked my watch to see if it was nearly over. Every scene was good and either exciting or propelled the story forward. Sure, in some ways some of it was pointless, but it set up a funny and exciting action sequence right afterward. Loved it.

Best scene of the movie: fire all cannons on that guy! Luke stands up and flicks some dust off his shoulder. Epic!

The uber Star Wars fans that are professing hatred toward The Last Jedi, frankly, need to shut the heck up. They don't own the franchise. If they don't like, don't buy it. Their self-entitled Star Wars fandom can be only "their" way is what drove Lucas away from the franchise to begin with.

It's a great movie for what it does, eschews any sort of previous convention and goes down it's own path. Brilliant. I'm looking forward to watching it again which isn't something I can say for most movies these days.

Fandoms are inherently toxic.

Fine fun movie, with lots echoes but not the full on derivative nature of Force Awakens, and lots of surprises. Its all fun and games until someone loses a hand or gets cut into two. Yoda (notice its not Ben, so we keep with the ESB echoes) reminding Luke that failure is the best teacher was a great moment, and Luke always looking toward the horizon. The mythos now has a lot of interesting female characters now.

If I had to pick things I did not like, it was how the Supreme Leader's ship is destroyed by the rebel cruiser going to light speed through it. Didn't we just see the Millenium Falcon in TFA go to lightspeed inside a hanger or something? If its that easy, why have all the bombers? Just have ships do that light speed trick? And that the First Order had to have a thief tell them to look for lifeboats.

I also watch "Star Wars: Rebels" and there has been speculation (low probability) that a character on that show named "Bridger" may grow up (and grow old) and be the Supreme Leader. That "Bridger" probably has that name as he is 'bridging' the prequel and original trilogy, but when the Supreme Leader mentioned he was the bridge between our dueling force apprentices, I wondered anew.

Having said I liked the movie, I will say I don't agree with this at all. "Who owns something" is not just the legal matter of whatever corporation bought the rights. I think long running franchises have core features and fandoms that expect those features to remain as characteristic. If a corporation does something that is mostly met with disdain, then its not a big problem. The 'core' of those franchises will mostly ignore those iterations, and continue to look to older material. Its when a new fandom embraces what the older fandom dislikes.
