I used to enjoy NPR (despite their biases), but much less so these days. I’m not sure if I changed or it did.

Oh that? That’s been around in one form or another forever. It’s true that because of the internet, you don’t have to have any training or credibility to get your “voice out there”, which has muddied up the way information is delivered. Thankfully, I’m too old to be worried about what every Joe online or on YouTube has to say.

I liked the news before they were all day channels—just told you the facts and let you make your own decision. Nowadays, they have to fill up 24 hours, which has to be a challenge, so they pile on the opinionated talking heads. Ugh.

As for America’s current policies, I’d advise everyone to avoid speaking specifically about that (one way or another) or we risk the thread going down in flames.

I can definitely get sucked into the news these days, and it definitely increases my stress and anger levels. I do have to take time off and ignore the news every once in a while, and usually aside from video games I'll just distract myself with sports and sports news.

I do not mean to make it about politics it just the current movement/situation combined with even Video Games going into the mix lately has caused a lot more problems these days unfortunately.

I just read the local paper. I've shut my eyes to national politics because it just harms my well being to know about that nonsense.

I don't really pay attention anymore. It's just a platform for a few billionaires to push their weight around in an attempt to brainwash society and ultimately further line their pockets. Mainstream media largely doesn't represent me and often works to villainize today's silent majority, so I just end up disgusted. I'm pretty traditional in my values and such, which simply isn't catered to in 2019 by major media outlets.

I'll read my locally owned independent paper that seems to fairly cover topics, but not much else. They don't seem to push an agenda and seem content to delivering the news the old fashioned way and let the reader form their own opinions. The reader letters they publish for instance often fall on both sides of major issues, unlike the one-sided representation you get from corporate media.

And when I do stumble across a story like I did yesterday about Warner Brothers and some other media outlets threatening to throw around their economic might to bully people with different views, I just end up annoyed and can't put it out of my mind for a few days.

I simply must hear more about Jussie Smollett, abortion, Trump, and the Kardashians!

Isn’t that the great thing about video games. It’s one of the things that are fun that you don’t have to hear the news. Basketball and tennis are definitely ways also.

Saturday Night Live is one of the most depressing casualties that actually makes me yearn for the 1995 and prior late night skits I never got to see because my child brain was too much of a bumble bee. The garbage Colbert poops out of his facial-rectal cavity is everything that stands against comedy. Also Jimmy Kimmel really does seem like the next #metoo (don't get me started on how the news ran with this) despite him being another mainstream media mouthpiece. I can't stand his hypocritical grave dancing that certain groups aren't allowed to dish back (according to MSNBC and CNN).

Proper and predictable is what may fly for college campuses these days, but comedy isn't about soothing your feelings about societal problems, it's about being able to laugh at everything and yourself. Everything today being "except for key issues", and "yourself" being if you aren't an interest group for propaganda machines. People who have no care or passion for humor are being given the microphone, and as any reasonable person would expect, it's hurting these corporate parasites where it matters.

Good. Lose your viewership, you feed everyone your own brand of hatred even though you decry specific voter groups or the country as a whole as a source of incorrigible hatred.

After Sunday Night Football, NBC News came on. It was about three minutes before I was scrambling for the remote to put on literally anything else.

Atlanta Rhythm Section

I picked up the paper this morning
And read all the daily blues
The world is one big tragedy
I wonder what I can do

About all the pain and injustice
About all of the sorrow
We're living in a danger zone
The world could end tomorrow

But I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
Tomorrow I might go as far as suicide
But I won't let it bother me tonight

Life on the street is a jungle
A struggle to keep up the pace
I just can't beat that old dog eat dog
The rats keep winnin' the rat race

But I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
The world is in an uproar and I see no end in sight
But I won't let it bother me tonight

I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
Tomorrow I might go as far as suicide
But I won't let it bother me tonight

Lord, Lord, Lord
We got nothing but trouble
I've done all I can do today
So bartender pour me a double, right now

But I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight
The world is in an uproar and I see no end in sight
But I won't let it bother me tonight...
