I’m in the same boat of those that are kind of “sick” of SW and Marvel. Didn’t watch Solo and haven’t even checked out new trailer. But the shorter episode time and more western/grittier feel (while still charming) made me a fan. I suggest trying the first episode.

The Holiday Special rules. One of the most jaw-dropping things I've ever seen. (I'm not sure that I would summarize the premise that way when Chewie and Han are in maybe 5% of the movie.)

Bad acting, even worse scripts...

Anakin Skywalker masterfully acted by Hayden Christensen. Mark Hammil cannot act his way out of a paper bag, he is only barely, by the skin of his teeth, a superior actor to Emilia Clarke of Daenery's fame. Seen better acting and scripting in 1980's porn.

Nonetheless I am prepared to admit I have seen every film and am watching the Mandalorian

Aguirre, the Wrath of God, directed by Herzog is one of my top 10 favs.

I watched that film nearly 20 years ago and, while it was beautiful and had some striking scenes, I don't think I had the patience to fully appreciate it at the time - it will definitely be getting a rewatch sometime in the future. I've since seen Even Dwarfs Started Small, Cobra Verde and My Best Fiend (the Klaus Kinski documentary) and liked them all.

I love Star Wars because it's so very imperfect, and because the passion behind it is real. And because it's too ambitious for its own good, which is a better sin than the alternative.

And because sometimes it's entirely too relatable.

I'm watching every episode, and loving it so far. Also, I love that the biggest debate so far, is [Spoilers ahead for the first episode]- "No, seriously, what do we call baby Yoda?"

It's a welcome change from people breaking their spines trying to figure out a reason why Rey can't lift boulders if she's chosen by the force and has absolute faith in what it can achieve. "She's making Luke look bad when he just whined instead!" <--- the real reason, along with "That's not how the force works in the games!"

As though the games don't also claim that you can use lightsabers to club people to death. : p

My wife and I watched the first 3 episodes of The Mandalorian, and we both have been enjoying it. It seems like it’s creating its own style which I appreciate. And Carl Weathers? That’s the icing on the cake.

Also, we got the $12.99 Disney Plus as opposed to the $6.99 package. With the Plus you get Hulu and ESPN+ which is cool if you’re into sports. All those ESPN+ articles on their site are now accessible.

Wait, what? "Chosen" by the Force? Have I completely missed something, I thought the strength of the force in any one individual came down to nothing more than their "midichlorian" count?
