Nope. The Prequels are terrible examples of filmmaking. Just dreadful acting, nonsensical plots, boring characters, uneven tone, all marred by CG that looked like trash when the movies came out. They're spectacles that take themselves too seriously and tell a story that was better left untold. Lucas was more interested in selling toys and cramming every scene with as many digital effects as he could stomach.
The new films varied in quality and would have been better if they had a unifying vision from the word, "go". Instead, they tried to just figure out on the fly where they were going with each new movie.
The Force Awakens is a meta Star Wars movie that is about Star Wars itself. It was purposely designed to mimic the original film, but instead of pulling inspiration from westerns and samurai films, it draws from... Star Wars. In some ways it might be the best of the new trilogy.
The Last Jedi is a film that purposely deconstructs everything you think and love about Star Wars. It's a daring albeit flawed film. It had big ideas and seemed to gleefully tear apart dumb concepts that have kept the franchise from breaking boundaries and pushing forward. It wasn't content to just retread the same plot lines and story arcs of the past. It's easily the most interesting film of the new trilogy with the most to say.
The Rise of Skywalker is pretty much a mess. The Slippy Toad of the new trilogy. Always getting in it's own way and being more annoying than good. It moves at such a relentless, breakneck pace that you barely have time to unravel every single thing that is being thrown against the wall. Desperately hoping something interesting will stick. There are a few great action scenes, but it's reliance on tired plots and unoriginal revelations was it's ultimate undoing. No doubt the death of Carrie Fisher played a huge role in how scattershot the final product turned out. The Force Awakens focused on Han Solo and the Last Jedi was Luke Skywalker's film. It was clearly intended to have the third film highlight General Leia, but that had to mostly be altered. I think the back-pedaling on the Last Jedi's ideas to play up more fan service nonsense was a giant step in the wrong direction.
Anywho...Star Trek > Star Wars
Space wizards. Laaaazer blasters. Pew Pew Pew! None of these movies can touch StarCrash!
