In case anyone was wondering, Klaus is still the best Christmas movie ever.

One thing that’s hilarious about Dirty Work is I read a review and the person mentions how strange it is that Artie Lange is still alive and several of the other actors unfortunately passed away. Bob Saget actually directed it. It was Chris Farley’s last movie. So it really makes the movie even more important.

Since it's 10 days till Christmas, went with a Christmas action film "Batman Returns" since it takes place around Christmas time. While many like me still think the first is the best, there are also many who say this one is. This time the Caped Crusader must deal with 3 foes: Corrupt CEO Max Shreck (Christopher Walken), bizarre sinister Penguin (Danny Devito), and the slinky mysterious Catwoman (Michelle Pfieffer). Michael Keaton once again proves why he is THE man to play Batman, carrying all the sense of justice, mystique and torment required for the character. Unfortunately the villains steal the show, and do they ever, more than Batman, none of the character depths explored like in the previous film (yet that didn't go as far as Batman Begins either), but there's a lot of excitement, and dark imagination that only Tim Burton can summon. Batman also kills a few criminals as well, setting one on fire and blowing one up with a sadistic smile. Devito steals the spotlight as the Penguin bringing all the sense of sinisterness and sympathy simultaneously. Michelle Pfieffer still to this day is the woman to play catwoman, forget about Anne Hathaway, she gets it right. Another of Tim Burton's masterpieces.

Mouse Hunt with friends, first time seeing it since I was a kid. Forgot how gorgeous it is. Why did they make such a wacky movie look so pretty? Not that I'm complaining!

I prefer Batman Returns to the first one.
Almost the entire focus of the original Batman is Nicholson's Joker and his shtick gets old fast. Not to say that it wasn't an important and influential movie for the time, taking comic book movies in a darker direction.

I watched Christmas Vacation last night, and it holds up well. The pacing of that movie is brisk. If one scene doesn't quite work that's okay because another is right behind. It clocks in at a tight 1:37. And of course cousin Eddie steals every scene he's in.

Someone earlier mentioned Ralph Bakshi who did an unfinished Lord of the Rings. I found an even better of Bakshi's works where he collaborated with Frank Franzetti in "Fire and Ice" one I keep coming back to time and time again, and for good reasons. Three brave people a blond warrior who's the last of his kind, a hot bikini-clad princess who can handle herself in almost any situation, and a wolf warrior with an axe take on a powerful ice warlock and his kingdom of ice to save the kingdom of fire. Can they do it? That remains to be seen. Nicely animated even if its done with rotoscoping. The plot is lacking but the world is imaginative with all the environments and creatures that pulls you in. Plenty of action and adventure at every turn, a real guilty pleasure, you can even watch it right here:

Re-watched both Sonic the Hedgehog movies over the last couple days to get ready for the new Sonic 3 movie, which I plan to see sometime in the coming week.

Saw Kraven the Hunter a few days ago. I'm not overly familar with the character in the Marvel Universe, so I've no idea how faithful this movie is to the source material. But I wound up really enjoying it. Lots of wild, crazy action sequences, the bad guys get it in the end, and Russell Crowe is in there as well. I wouldn't call it the greatest thing I ever seen, but I did have fun with it, and I'd like to see them do a sequel of it some day.
