RIP Alex Trebek

Sad to see the iconic host of Jeopardy go. Hoped he would somehow beat pancreatic cancer. :(

Just couldn't resist sharing this after both Connery and Trebek passed away so closely.

(Hopefully the picture actually attached.)

I didn't realize it until now but I've watched more Jeopardy than probably any other program over the last 5-6 years - my grandma watches it and Wheel of Fortune almost every night - and it's impossible to imagine it without Trebek. Apart from being a fun game show, I appreciate how Jeopardy encourages learning and curiosity about the world. I knew the end was coming but I had no idea it would be so sudden. May he rest in peace and may his family find some comfort in knowing that his suffering is over.

I think Jeopardy came out when I was a sophomore in high school (Doctors classify me as a “Geezer”). I didn’t watch Jeopardy all the time but in high school and college, I used to enjoy watching it just to learn something in a fun way. And Alex Trebek came across as a professor, cool uncle, wise man in the bar, baritone nice guy Canadian all in one.

The Daily Double! This still-running hit TV show came out in May 1999, about the same time VGC launched this website.
