Bacon

All right this is a silly topic. But everybody loves bacon that I know. How do you prefer yours, crispy or chewy?

I prefer soft and greasy. I really don't like it when it's hard and crumbly, although some prefer that.

I was going to say this is a nice change of pace from the "Death" thread, but now that I think about it, they may be directly related!

I'm the only one on the planet that thinks bacon is overrated garbage. Ooohh, great. Salty strips of pork, the worst meat you can possibly eat. So yummy.

"Anyone smell bacon?" - Wayne's World

I like my bacon crispy crunchy, that way it awakens your senses in the morning. I know it's unhealthy, so I have this on rare occasions.

I like it on a BLT but otherwise, I don’t really crave it. I don’t know what the fascination with it is though. It’s soooo salty, that if I don’t chug a gallon of water with it, I feel hungover.

Hormel's Thick Cut Applewood Smoked Bacon is the bomb.

so good.

I like it crispy but not black. A little fat is good but not too much. I've been making mine in the oven. It's super easy and clean up is a breeze. Get you a cookie sheet, wrap it in tin foil for ease of cleaning purposes, add a metal rack on top, add your bacon, and insert into an oven for about 20 minutes at 375.

Great subject!

Hormel also has Pecan and Cherry Wood smoked bacon if you want to give those a try. Both are good but Apple Wood tastes the best.

I like mine crispy yet chewy. You didn’t ask but I’ve been making my own bacon (love cooking from absolute scratch). It’s a 7 to 10 day process but it’s fun to do. I’ve used pork belly from Costco and Ranch 99 market.

Two ways to cook bacon that may be different: 1st, put bacon in oven, THEN turn oven on to 400, which allows the bacon fat to cook slowly and not burn. Usually bacon is ready 5-10 minutes after oven hits temp of 400.

2nd, on stovetop put water in the pan with bacon (in the vid I think it’s too much water, I’ve used less). Water helps stop the fat from burning and will boil away. https://youtu.be/2guC4Badq2s

Both :P – thanks to slab bacon that's very common (along with other alternatives to the usual slices) here in Norway.
