No Time to die. James Bond

Postby BlasteroidAli » October 5th, 2021, 6:48 pm

One of the few pleasures of being a Bond fan in London is that I have got to see this glorious romp ahead of the Critic. Spoilers ahead, If you have not watched the movie do not read this thread.

I loved Casino Royale, was not so keen on QOS, hated Skyfall but rather liked Spectre. So for me, I was overjoyed that Bond was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Car chases are supremely good fun. Stunts are jaw dropping. I felt it was a bit too long but well worth watching 9/10. So an A. (a week later 6 out of 10 a c +)

I am not giving the plot away, you will have to go and see it for yourself. Bond as woman? I would be okay with that, or a man of colour, similarly I would be cool with that. They still have to make a movie of great quality. No time to die has converted me back to a lover of the series (Well until I thought about it this week).
Edit a week later. Bond should be suave white male, with a gorgeous female on either arm. Without that it simply is not Bond.

I have no problem with a man of color portraying Bond. However I would have a major issue with a female playing that role. James Bond is a man. 007 is a man. And I feel very strongly about that.

I’m not a fan of this movie. First of all, I don’t necessarily want to be a spoiler so please don’t read.......

But what’s with all the crying and him dying? What? There should always be the end with him surviving and a nice one liner. I guess this franchise is over. And if you want to see any beautiful women take one with you, because they certainly aren’t in the movie.

What I want to know is what happens now. It sure seems like the end. What a great idea. Oh and the plot could’ve been written by a high school dropout. Why bring back Blofeld to have him be a minor character here. I thought it would’ve been nice if he escaped. I thought that’s what was going to happen.

spoilers ahead.

Yeah pathetic ending. Though I still thought it was better than Skyfall and Spectre and QOS. For me Craig has been a dud from start to finish. My least fave bond. Plus Bond vs Freddie Mercury what was all that about?

I am with you on the lack of good looking women. I thought I had just got too old to like them. I admit to not looking at any of them and going wow. I mainly liked it for the Aston Martin and the car chases. Also I had had a bad day so seeing any movie was a bit of escapist fun.

Though I think you have valid criticisms of the movie. Although I liked Casino Royale I thought Craig was a blind alley. I have been proven right.

I just saw No Time To Die today, and despite being the biggest Bond/Daniel Craig fan on the planet, I concur that this movie sucks.

The best scene in the entire film is probably the first, in which the villain wears a creep Asian doll face. Too bad he didn't wear it for the whole film, because he was pretty lame otherwise.

This film is way too long. So long I actually attempted to CHECK MY WATCH once or twice. Never a good sign. There are some great action scenes, but between those? The plot is incomprehensible and many scenes are downright BORING. The film tried to tie up too many strings, and had more endings than Lord of the Rings. This seems to be a trend and I hate it.

The much-ballyhooed black female 007 was a completely inconsequential character, but at least she's in good company. There were a lot of extraneous characters that should have been left out. The one exception was this hot brunette agent working with Bond in Cuba. She was sexy, funny, and actually had a personality. Too bad she only had about ten minutes of screen time.

I was so disillusioned by this film that the idea of Craig no longer playing Bond no longer bothers me. He looks like he was just going through the motions and just wants to be done with it. This movie did NOT leave me wanting more.

The movie was bad in so many ways. First off, how do you take literally 10 years and 4 movies in building up this whole Spectre enterprise to have it written out of this script. I remember when it was a huge deal a few years ago that Blofeld was coming back. To have Blofeld get killed while in prison without ever breaking out is ridiculous. How does Spectre get destroyed by a gas attack in one place? That makes no sense. So every leader of Spectre is there and gets gassed. What about the people under them? Wouldn't they be replaced. I thought Spectre was this huge criminal organization.

I am a huge Bond fan...love Craig as Bond....and I pretty much hated this movie.

As others have mentioned, the first 30 minutes or so were great and set up what looked to be a fantastic film. Then it fell off the cliff in a spectacular manner, with the rookie agents being played for laughs like some rom com, killing off all of Spectre in a silly manner, Bond with one liners even Roger Moore would have rejected, 007 as a daddy, dying at the hands of a pretty subpar villain.

That's all off the top of my head. I've been trying to forget it since I saw it.

I am not the biggest bond fan, but I like Daniel Craig as Bond for sure. I was planning on checking out this movie but I think I will pass. Seems like it is nearly impossible these days for hollywood to make a good movie.
